The opportunity

Sawyers Arms Tavern is seeking a passionate and experienced Head Chef to join our team.
As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for leading our kitchen operations, overseeing menu development, and ensuring the highest standards of culinary excellence. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your skills and expertise in a fast-paced, creative environment.

The hotel has also recently won the Australian Hotel Association Award for best casual dining (Victoria).

Key responsibilities

Manage all aspects of kitchen operations, including staffing, inventory, and food preparation

Develop and implement innovative menu concepts that showcase seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients

Maintain strict quality control and food safety standards

Train, mentor, and motivate the kitchen team to deliver exceptional dining experiences

Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service

Monitor and manage kitchen expenses to maintain profitability

Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices

What we're looking for

Minimum 3 years of experience as a Head Chef or in a similar leadership role

Proven track record of developing and executing successful menus that cater to a diverse clientele

Excellent culinary skills with a strong understanding of Chefs/Cooks industry standards

Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment

Proficient in inventory management, cost control, and budget planning

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Passion for using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and creating exceptional dining experiences
