About Us:
We’re a leading built-environment consultancy group committed to shaping inclusive, safe, and inspiring spaces across New South Wales. With a reputation for technical excellence, innovation, and a client-centred approach, our work spans commercial, public, education, health, residential and infrastructure sectors. We partner with developers, local government, architects, and contractors to embed accessibility from conception through to completion. Our culture is collaborative, dynamic, and deeply values-driven — we believe in mentorship, continuous learning, and delivering design that works for everyone.
You will be joining a team that prides itself on thought leadership in accessibility: staying up to date with regulatory change, pushing boundaries of best practice, and having real impact on the lived experience of people with disabilities.
The Role:
As a Senior Accessibility Consultant, you will lead and deliver accessibility advice across medium to large scale-built environment projects (Class 2-9) throughout NSW. You will be a key technical lead, mentoring junior consultants, advising clients, liaising with design & construction teams, and ensuring that accessibility is integrated and compliant from early design stages through to handover.
You will be responsible for:
Leading accessibility design reviews from concept, schematic, detailed design through to as built & handover stages
Preparing accessibility / universal design reports, specifications and documentation
Advising on and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation & codes in NSW, including the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), the National Construction Code (NCC), and the AS 1428 suite (and other Australian Standards)
Collaborating with architects, building surveyors, engineers, contractors, clients to resolve accessibility challenges in practical, cost-effective, and design-sensitive ways
Undertaking site inspections, audits, and assessments to verify compliance and identify defects or risks
Mentoring and/or supervising more junior access consultants or designers; helping build capacity in the team
Keeping abreast of regulatory changes, case law, precedent, and sharing knowledge internally & externally
What We’re Looking For:
To excel in this role you should have:
At least 3 years' experience working as an access / accessibility consultant on Class 2-9 projects in Australia (or equivalent experience)
Strong, demonstrable knowledge of NSW legislative & regulatory framework: DDA, NCC, AS 1428 suite, relevant Australian Standards, local Council / State policies
Hands-on experience with accessibility design, audits, site inspections, reporting and resolving issues throughout the project lifecycle
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — able to engage with clients, designers, contractors in a collaborative but authoritative manner
High attention to detail and analytical skills; ability to balance technical compliance, user experience, and cost / buildability constraints
Registration, or progress toward registration, as an Architect, Building Surveyor, or Accredited Access Consultant is preferred
Must have full working rights in Australia
What You’ll Get:
Competitive pay in the AU$120,000-180,000 + super range, aligned with your experience and project portfolio
Full toolkit of trade-of-the-trade support: up-to-date software, devices, travel / vehicle support (where needed), technical reference materials
Opportunities for professional development: mentoring, CPD, conferences / workshops, exposure to high-profile and varied projects
Flexible working arrangements (hybrid work, some field / site work as required)
A supportive, expert team environment with strong values around inclusion, excellence and continuous improvement
Why This Is a Great Opportunity:
You’ll work on meaningful projects that impact accessibility and inclusion in real physical environments — schools, public buildings, health facilities, major residential developments etc.
You’ll be in a role with genuine autonomy and opportunity to influence outcomes from design through completion.
You’ll join a company that invests in its people: you won’t be an isolated specialist but part of multidisciplinary teams where accessibility is embedded rather than an afterthought.
Potential for career growth: leadership, client relationships, expanding your portfolio and reputation in the field
