Your Role
Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) is one of Victoria’s largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.
We are seeking a dedicated Case Worker Targeted Care Packages to support children and young people transitioning from Residential or Home Based Care to into environments where their needs can be better met. This role also coordinates the day to day operations of this vital program.
The aim of Targeted Care Packages is to achieve better outcomes for children and young people in out-of-home care. All decisions are guided by the best interests of the child or young person ensuring that care and support responses are individualised, culturally informed, and designed to meet each child or young persons unique needs.
In this role you will work directly with children families, carers, and key stakeholders to facilitate change that supports the achievement of each child or young persons case plan and the outcomes identified for their ongoing stability, safety and well being.
This is a permanent, full time position based at our Mildura office location.
Key Selection Criteria
Experience in the case management of complex children, youth and families and knowledge of the Residential Care, Out of Home Care system and Child Protection statutory requirements. Demonstrated ability to advocate for client needs, influencing decisions in client’s best interests.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems based on operation knowledge and experiences and following a continuous improvement process. In line with policy procedures and therapeutic and cultural healing approach and frameworks
Ability to communicate, consult, liaise and negotiate with a broad range of people both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal people at all levels to achieve broad project objectives and goals
Ability to take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services
Qualification/s:
A tertiary qualification or equivalent training and experience in Social Work, Youth Work or another relevant field or willing to obtain.
Other Screening Requirements:
Valid Drivers License that allows you to drive in Australia.
Victorian Employee Working with Children Check card.
National Police Check.
