With operations spanning mechanical repairs, fastener and consumables retail, bulk chemical supply, and fleet servicing, we pride ourselves on delivering practical solutions with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and customer service.
About the role
An opportunity exists for a motivated Inventory & Retail Support Officer to join our Mackay-based team.
This hands-on position supports the day-to-day flow of stock through our retail and workshop operations — ensuring accurate ordering, receipting, and presentation of products such as nuts, bolts, filtration items, and general consumables, while maintaining accurate inventory records.
The role offers great variety, balancing retail support, purchasing, face-to-face customer service, and inventory control within a busy, team-focused environment.
Key responsibilities
Provide face-to-face customer service and sales support in the retail area.
Create purchase orders and place stock orders with approved suppliers.
Receive and reconcile deliveries, check stock against invoices, and update the system.
Pick, pack, and distribute parts and consumables for retail and internal workshop needs.
Maintain organised, well-labelled shelving and clean stock zones.
Support stocktakes and cycle counts to ensure system accuracy.
Maintain retail displays and assist with promotional updates.
Liaise with the sales representative and workshop staff regarding stock requirements.
Operate forklifts and handling equipment safely (if licensed).
Follow company safety, quality, and environmental procedures at all times.
About you
Previous experience in retail, warehousing, or stock control (preferred).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy with stock receipting and data entry.
Computer literacy with confidence using inventory or POS systems (Retail Express experience desirable).
Good communication and teamwork skills with a proactive, customer-focused attitude.
Forklift licence preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Reliable, organised, and must be able to work unsupervised and/or within a team in a fast-paced environment.
Why join Prochem?
Family-owned and locally operated business.
Supportive, down-to-earth team culture.
Varied, long-term role with room to grow.
Monday–Friday roster – Mackay-based, home every night.
