Your Opportunity:
The Staying Home Leaving Violence (SHLV) program is a crucial initiative dedicated to supporting women aged 18+ who have bravely separated from violent partners or family members in Far West NSW. SHLV focuses on ensuring the housing stability of women who have chosen to remain in their own home or another safe residence following separation from an abusive environment. This approach helps prevent homelessness and allows women to rebuild their lives with security and autonomy.
Through dedicated case management, collaborative partnerships, and a commitment to holistic care, SHLV Case Workers are instrumental in helping survivors reclaim their lives and thrive beyond violence.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Provide safety planning and case management strategies to women and children affected by and escaping DV.
- Assist women in maintaining separation from violent partners by addressing barriers that may threaten their safety or stability.
- Help women maintain stable accommodation and regain control of their finances.
- Facilitate our clients' access to the court system to obtain effective legal protection.
- Conduct thorough assessments at each stage of the process to identify and address our clients' needs for legal, social, and welfare assistance.
- Complete administrative duties for the efficient running of the service (statistics, reports, referral letters, goal plans and data entry in CRM)
Requirements for Success:
- Understanding of Domestic & Family Violence, its complexities, and consequences, particularly as they affect Aboriginal Women and Children, and sensitivity to their needs.
- Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice response to Domestic & Family Violence.
- Ability to work with local Aboriginal communities and the broader community to promote awareness of Domestic & Family Violence.
- Good communication skills, particularly in negotiation, advocacy, and conflict resolution.
- Good networking skills; and
- Good organisational and administrative skills
- Current NSW Driving Licence
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
