Delaney Civil is a well-established medium-sized civil engineering and construction contractor, delivering all aspects of complex civil engineering projects. Delaney Civil deliver projects across NSW in a range of delivery models, including construct only, design and construct, and alliances/joint ventures. Over the past two decades, Delaney Civil has had the privilege to work on some of the most high-profile and iconic projects in NSW.
We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor, reporting directly to the Managing Director, based in our head office in the Norwest Business Park. In this role you will play an important part of the team and be actively involved in efficiently preparing, reviewing and managing the constructions costs of the projects from the tendering through construction completion.
The Role:
Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects based on drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents.
Monitor and control project costs.
Undertake quantity surveying tasks that are fit for purpose, accurate, practical, comply with relevant design, regulatory and Company standards, and meet the client’s requirements.
Assist with the preparation of tenders and submissions, including schedules, documentation and bills of quantities.
Negotiate contracts with contractors and suppliers.
Assist with project commercials.
Identification, assessment and reporting on variations for projects costs and scope.
Provide project forecasts, reporting and advice to ensure project profitability.
Identification and assessment of potential risks related to costs and contracts.
Development of strategies to mitigate risks and ensure financial success of projects.
Attend meetings as directed by the Contracts Administrator.
Assist in resolving disputes related to costs and contracts as required.
Support the Contracts Administrator and ensure timely addressing of project contractual deliverables.
Build and maintaining professional and effective working relationships with clients, team members, suppliers, subcontractors and other professionals as required.
Key Attributes:
Tertiary qualifications in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
2+ years previous estimating experience within the civil construction industry, or equivalent.
Good knowledge of relevant legislation and contract management.
Proficient in MS Office, MS Projects and estimating software and databases.
Ability to effectively manage and prioritise multiple tasks and deadlines.
Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
