Procurement Officer

About the Role

As a Procurement Officer, you will play a key role in delivering efficient and effective end-to-end procurement processes for the local council. This position supports a high standard of compliance and governance, ensuring the organisation’s procurement practices align with legislative and policy requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support procurement activities from initiation to contract award
  • Prepare and publish procurement documentation in line with relevant legislation and policies
  • Use electronic procurement and tendering systems to manage procurement processes
  • Assist in evaluation of tenders and procurement submissions
  • Maintain contract and vendor panel records, and ensure accurate documentation
  • Support internal stakeholders with procurement advice and process guidance
  • Contribute to procurement planning and delivery timelines
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure procurement outcomes align with strategic objectives

About You

You’re a highly organised individual with a strong understanding of procurement principles and a commitment to integrity and compliance. You’re comfortable working independently and as part of a team and enjoy supporting internal stakeholders through complex procurement requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or substantial job-related experience
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement and purchasing processes
  • Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build stakeholder relationships
  • Understanding of legislative and governance frameworks related to procurement

Desirable

  • Experience with electronic tendering and evaluation platforms
  • Familiarity with government procurement frameworks and contract management
  • Knowledge of SAP and/or e-tendering systems
  • Understanding of contractor performance evaluation and management
  • Class C Driver’s Licence
