We are proud to partner with a valued client located in Sydney's vibrant Inner West, currently seeking a seasoned Compliance Officer to join their dedicated team. In this pivotal role, reporting to the Compliance Coordinator, you will help safeguard the wellbeing of the community by ensuring adherence to building and environmental standards.

Your new role

This opportunity begins as a three-month contract, offering a dynamic and meaningful role within a collaborative team environment. As a Compliance Officer, you'll be entrusted with key responsibilities that support the integrity of environmental, planning and development processes. Drawing on your thorough understanding of relevant legislation, you'll work both independently and alongside colleagues to ensure compliance and uphold community standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough inspections to identify unauthorised land use, environmental breaches, illegal dumping, swimming pools, building works, and breaches of development consents
• Implement appropriate enforcement measures, including education, penalty notices, formal orders, and directions
• Respond promptly and professionally to customer enquiries and concerns
• Deliver exceptional service to the public, fostering trust and transparency

What you'll need to succeed

• Tertiary qualification in Planning, Building Surveying, Environmental Health/Science, Local IV in Government Investigations or a related professional discipline
  
• Current and valid Driver Licence
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across diverse audiences.
  
• Prior experience working within a Local Council environment is essential.
