About us

The Western Australian Alliance to End Homelessness (WAAEH) is an independent coalition of individuals and organisations committed to working together to end homelessness in Western Australia. Since 2016, we have supported individuals, organisations, governments and local communities to work collaboratively across sectors to end homelessness – not just for individuals but for whole communities. The strength of the Alliance is its collective impact approach with aligned strategies and actions shaped by large multi-sector collaboration and active involvement by Alliance partners.

Advance to Zero (AtoZ) is a groundbreaking national initiative of the Australian Alliance to End Homelessness (AAEH), of which the WAAEH is a partner, that supports local collaborative efforts to end homelessness, starting with rough sleeping – one community at a time. Using a range of proven approaches from around the world, communities are supported not just to address individual instances of homelessness, or even reduce overall homelessness, but to end it altogether.

There is now an exciting opportunity to work with the WA AtoZ team in coaching and providing advice to communities engaged in the WA Advance to Zero (AtoZ) movement. The role will work with a team of collective impact enthusiasts, the Community Impact Advisor (CIA) is a skilled facilitator with an interest in continuous improvement and innovation, committed to ending homelessness in Western Australia. You must be a highly motivated individual who enjoys working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, facilitating collective problem solving and is passionate about ending homelessness.

Key responsibilities include:

Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with organisations, community leaders and strategic partners to engage with and support the Advance to Zero movement.

Confidently facilitate meetings with a range of stakeholders, utilizing improvement methods, tools and maintaining good governance.

Use data to support communities to plan, test, review and implement changes that will reduce the number of individuals experiencing homelessness month to month, improving the trajectory toward reaching functional zero.

Assess improvement education and training needs of participating communities; develop appropriate strategies, implement support plans, monitor outcomes and improvements.

Train and support communities to use data to drive performance specific to their local efforts to end homelessness.

Capture learning and best practice, contributing to the continuous improvement at a state and national level.

Contributing to the writing of reports and grant proposals.

As a representative of the Advance to Zero Team, present on AtoZ learnings, methods and/or outcomes and at conferences, workshops, events, etc.

Handle confidential information in line with WAAEH’s code of conduct.

Promote effective working relationships with other agencies and key stakeholders

Contribute to the positive public profile of the AtoZ movement.

Promote, participate in and contribute to a supportive team environment.

Work as an effective and valued member of the WAAEH team, in a culturally secure and appropriate way.

Serve as backup to the other CIA(s) on calls, meetings, and training as needed.

Occasionally prepare papers and briefings for project related meetings, take minutes and meeting notes

The successful applicant will have:

An interest in ending homelessness and an understanding of working collaboratively.

High level knowledge on housing, homelessness, best practices, and local service systems.

Expertise in problem-solving skills and competencies.

Excellent skills in facilitation, public speaking, and coaching for improvement.

Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills including interpersonal, verbal and written and experience in report writing.

Highly developed organisational skills to use initiative, coordinate concurrent activities and manage competing demands whilst demonstrating a high level of empathy and flexibility.

High level of attention to detail and ability to multitask.

The ability to cope with and embrace change, risk, and uncertainty.

Demonstrated competency in the use of various software, applications, and databases – including Microsoft Office, Google Suite as well as various stakeholder and project management software.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and self-manage to achieve goals while being a strong team player.

Willingness to embrace and actively support the unique culture and values of working in a collective impact space.
