The Opportunity:
Due to continued growth and, we’re seeking a highly motivated Materials Technician.
The role will be predominantly based in the Pilbara.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Conduct mechanical, physical, testing on materials (e.g. tensile, air, vacuum).
Perform and support non-destructive testing (NDT) such as electro static, air, vacuum.
Inspect and verify incoming materials and fabricated liners for compliance with project specifications.
Maintain material traceability, certification, and QA/QC documentation throughout all project stages.
Assist QA/QC and engineers with sample preparation, material analysis, and investigation of failures.
Operate and maintain testing equipment; ensure all instruments are verified and within calibration.
Record and report test results, maintain quality logs.
Work safely in accordance with site HSE policies, identifying and mitigating risks related to testing activities.
Contribute to process improvement by recommending enhancements to installation, testing, handling, and QA/QC workflows.
Support knowledge sharing by mentoring junior staff and staying current with materials standards and techniques
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
Experience (typically 2–5 years) in the installation of Geomembranes in harsh environments such as the pilbara, including but not limited to HDPE, LLDPE, BGM.
Experience (typically 2–5 years) in materials testing, such as tensile testing e.g. peel and shear tests, air testing of seams, vacuum testing, static testing.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to interpret test data and identify trends.
Proficiency in mechanical and non-destructive testing techniques
A strong communicator with an eye for quality and detail.
Physically fit and willing to undertake site work.
Desirable (but not essential):
Experience working on heavy industrial or mining projects in WA / Pilbara region.
Certification or training in NDT techniques
Familiarity with Australian or international Geomembranes materials standards
Understanding of material failures, fatigue mechanics
