Senior Release Manager - NSW Trustee and Guardian

Temporary full-time vacancy - up to 12 months with possibility of extension.

35 hours per week.

Location: This role is based in Sydney (Wynyard). Flexible and hybrid working options available.

Clerk Grade: 9/10. Base salary $129,464 to $142,665 p.a. plus 12% superannuation and annual leave loading.

The Project Delivery team within the Information Technology division drives the successful delivery of technology-enabled initiatives that support the organisation’s strategic priorities. The team applies robust governance and best-practice frameworks to ensure projects are delivered efficiently on time, and to a high standard, enabling innovation and lasting value for the community we serve.

About the role

The Senior Release Manager is responsible for undertaking the planning, coordination, and delivery of product releases to ensure alignment with established standards of quality, schedule, and stakeholder expectations. This position functions within the Information and Technology Division, supporting project initiatives such as application modernisation, digital service transformation, and the implementation of complex technical solutions and operational deployments

The position requires a commitment to service delivery and the ability to drive continuous improvement.

As the Senior Release Manager, you will:

Develop and maintain comprehensive release calendars, coordinate release activities across multiple teams, and ensure all dependencies and risks are managed effectively.

Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to release timing, quality, and resources. Prepare contingency plans to address potential issues.

Work closely with Test Manager, Projects Managers and QA teams to ensure testing is completed and issues are resolved prior to release. Oversee sign-off processes and compliance requirements.

Assess change requests, coordinate approvals, and ensure changes are integrated into release plans without disrupting project timelines.

Ensures that release packages are tested independently in accordance with the defined test plan prior to migration to the live environment, reducing the risk of incidents relating to the release.

Manage releases of solution components following agreed procedures to minimise impact to the organisation.

Conduct post-implementation reviews to confirm outcomes and results, identify lessons learned and develop comprehensive action plans to ensure the release has been effective and the outcome to the business has been achieved.

Maintain detailed records of release activities, provide post-release analysis, and contribute to project retrospectives.

About you

The ideal person will have:

Extensive experience in managing release cycles in accordance with the defined test plan.

Proven ability to implement and improve structured release processes in complex technical environments.

Sound understanding of Dynamics 365 architecture, modules (such as Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Service), and integration capabilities with hands-on experience managing releases in environments supporting Dynamics 365 deployments.

Hands-on experience managing releases in environments supporting Dynamics 365 deployments.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve release-related issues specific to Dynamics 365, such as schema changes, data migrations, and plugin deployments.

Demonstrated expertise in Azure infrastructure, including logic apps, networking, security, and platform services

Proven experience using Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipeline management, release orchestration, and automated testing.

Proficient in managing Azure resources such as virtual machines, databases (specify: e.g., SQL Server), storage accounts, and app services throughout the release lifecycle.

Advanced scripting and automation abilities using PowerShell and ARM templates.

Strong understanding of enterprise application integration, particularly connecting Microsoft Dynamics 365 with systems like HP TRIM and other legacy platforms
