Are you passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of young people? Join our dedicated Youth Health Clinic team supporting headspace Dandenong, Knox and Narre Warren.
As a Youth Mental Health Health Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based primary health care in partnership with GPs, headspace staff, local schools, and other youth-focused services. You will help young people navigate physical, mental, and sexual health concerns, including alcohol and other drug (AOD) support – ensuring holistic, youth-friendly care.
What you’ll do:
Provide therapeutic engagement, assessment, and ongoing support to young people aged 12–25
Deliver clinical services across our headspace GP Clinics and “Doctors in Secondary Schools” program
Conduct comprehensive health assessments including mental state exams, risk assessments, and HEADDs assessments
Collaborate with GPs, school wellbeing teams, and external services to develop integrated care plans
Offer clinical education, health promotion, and referrals for issues such as AOD, sexual health, mental health, and physical wellbeing
Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and contribute to service reporting
Work closely with the headspace Services Manager to support service delivery needs within your scope
What you’ll bring:
Essential
Registration as a Division 1 Nurse with AHPRA
Postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health
Experience working with young people experiencing mental health concerns
Clinical skills across physical, sexual, and mental health, including AOD
Strong engagement skills with young people and families
Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Unrestricted driver’s licence
High level of computer literacy and ability to work with EMR systems
Highly Regarded
Postgraduate qualifications in adolescent health, sexual and reproductive health
Experience working in youth health settings or school-based clinics
