About Us

We began 22 years ago with a knock-out exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW which raised over a million dollars. People from the remotest, most beautiful parts of the desert used that money to build their own organisation — with a culture of caring, compassion, and determination.

Our mission is to improve the lives of people with renal failure, reunite families, and reduce the incidence of kidney disease in our communities. We are run by Aboriginal people, for Aboriginal people, providing culturally appropriate dialysis and support services in remote communities — helping people to get home to Country and family.

Today, we’re proud to operate dialysis in 20 remote communities across NT, SA, and WA. We also run two mobile dialysis trucks, provide a range of social support and wellbeing services, operate a successful social enterprise, and have big plans for more!

About the Role

The Social Support Coordinator (Female Identified) plays a key role in supporting our Malpa Social Support Program in Alice Springs. You’ll be walking beside dialysis patients and their families to provide culturally appropriate support, advocacy, and connection — creating a place that feels safe and like home.

You’ll coordinate and mentor a small team of Social Support staff, ensuring quality service delivery and a high standard of care across wellbeing, daily living, and cultural activities. Working collaboratively with families, communities, and internal teams, you’ll help clients stay strong, independent, and connected to Country.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate the Malpa Social Support team in delivering innovative, person-centred services.

Provide mentoring, supervision, and guidance to Social Support staff.

Work closely with families, clinical teams, and external stakeholders to ensure holistic client care.

Advocate for clients in areas such as health, housing, financial, family, and cultural needs.

Facilitate social, cultural, and wellbeing activities that strengthen connection and belonging.

Oversee data reporting and ensure effective use of the client management system.

Promote safe work practices and maintain compliance with WHS requirements.

About You

You’re compassionate, community-minded, and passionate about walking beside Aboriginal people in their health journey. You’re adaptable, organised, and thrive in a role that combines people leadership with hands-on care.

You’ll bring:

A Diploma in Community Services (or equivalent qualification/experience).

3–4 years’ experience in aged care, disability, or community support coordination.

Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.

Understanding of cultural protocols and ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal communities.

Computer literacy (Microsoft Office and client management systems).

Current Senior First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain).

C Class driver’s licence.
