PAYROLL OFFICER | Busselton | Full-Time | 8:30-4:30 pm.
Capecare is acknowledged as a leading not-for-profit provider of aged care and accommodation services for seniors and the aged care community across the South West region of Western Australia.
Capecare recognises that people are searching for meaning in their work lives, and finding a workplace that connects with their values is a crucial motivation when choosing an employer.
With Aged Care facilities in Busselton and Dunsborough on the beautiful shores of Geographe Bay, surrounded by unique experiences, adventure, and artisan produce, this position offers the ideal lifestyle balance for both work and play.
About the role:
Capecare is looking for a Payroll Coordinator to join our HR Team, and take the lead on our fortnightly pay runs for over 350 employees, ensuring every process runs smoothly and compliantly.
In this pivotal role, you’ll handle complex payroll matters, from terminations and wage variations to end-of-financial-year reconciliations, all while providing expert advice and guidance to staff across the organisation. You’ll also play a key role in auditing, compliance and reporting.
The right individual must be well-versed in modern award interpretations (as Capecare has four different awards), as well as have an understanding of 24/7 roster schedules.
If you thrive on accuracy, enjoy problem-solving, and want to make an impact in a fun, collaborative and supportive environment, we’d love to hear from you!
Key responsibilities:
Preparing and processing payroll actions required within a fortnightly pay cycle, including wage variations, terminations and leave entitlements.
Respond to and resolve all queries from employees, the finance team, and department managers. Perform ad-hoc duties outside of the pay cycle.
Reconciliation and administration of deductions, superannuation and payroll tax. Knowledge of salary packaging payments/programs.
Ensuring compliance with all Modern Award Payroll requirements and relevant legislation.
Maintain and optimise the payroll system by ensuring accuracy and compliance when managing small-scale or complex system changes.
Ensuring the integrity of employee data is maintained and documented in systems.
Filing of payroll reports and associated documentation.
Assisting the broader team with rostering when required.
About You:
A professional with a minimum of 4 years in a payroll officer position, preferably with experience in aged care or the healthcare sector.
Proficient in payroll software and Excel (we use Inerva).
Analytical thinker, strong problem solver and deadline-driven.
Confident understanding of payroll tax laws and regulations.
Working knowledge of time and attendance and rostering systems.
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Effective communication skills, ability to work independently and be a great team player.
Good organisation and time management skills.
Benefits:
A competitive remuneration package that includes not-for-profit salary packaging up to $18,550 (tax-free) – increases your take-home pay by decreasing the amount of tax you pay.
Join a talented and passionate HR team of 8.
A very family-friendly and supportive organisation.
