This position works across a 7-day rotating roster between the hours of 6am-6pm – availability across 7 days is essential.
$71,536 + 12% superannuation + 10% Loading + 3% Safe City Allowance
About the role
The Parking Compliance Officer sits within the Parking Services Branch of the Community and City Services Division and offers an exciting opportunity to make a real impact on the safety, accessibility and liveability of Melbourne.
In this dynamic role, you’ll help ensure fair and equitable access to parking while contributing to the City of Melbourne’s broader goals of creating a safe, welcoming and efficient city for all. You’ll be part of a dedicated team that values education and engagement — focusing on positive community interactions, promoting voluntary compliance, and supporting a culture of respect and fairness across our streets.
Shortlisted applicants must be available to attend an in-person assessment centre on Wednesday 29 October 2025.
A little more about the role
Monitor active parking sessions across the municipality and when needed, issue infringement notices with accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to establish effective patrol strategies and work with limited supervision
Engage positively with members of the public to promote understanding of parking regulations and encourage voluntary compliance
Operate mobile technology and enforcement systems efficiently and accurately
Observe and report safety, access or amenity issues to help maintain a safe and vibrant city environment

What your experience might look like - Key Selection Criteria
Demonstrated ability to apply the City of Melbourne’s values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect and excellence
Strong communication and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to remain calm and objective under pressure
Ability and willingness to adapt to a dynamic work environment with a flexible and positive approach to change, and personal learning and development.
Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn relevant Acts, regulations and local laws
Proven problem-solving, decision-making and record-keeping skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Current Victorian driver’s licence and a clear Police and Working with Children Check
Physical capacity to undertake year-round outdoor duties
