Posted 7 days ago
Do you have at least 3 years of hands-on experience in acute health, emergency, or complex primary care?
We’re looking for Registered Nurses with this background to join our Virtual Health team and support Australians nationwide through the Healthdirect Helpline (Nurse-on-Call in Victoria).
About the Role
As a Virtual Health Clinician, you will provide essential guidance to callers who require guidance on whether they should seek urgent medical attention or manage their condition at home. You’ll use your acute or emergency background to:
- Conduct comprehensive telephone triage and clinical assessments
- Provide accurate health advice across all age groups and clinical presentations
- Determine urgency and recommend the right level of care
- Refer callers to services including GPs, Urgent Care Clinics, and Virtual Emergency Departments
This is a work-from-home role where your expertise will reduce unnecessary strain on emergency services while ensuring Australians receive the right care at the right time.
About You
We are seeking Registered Nurses with strong acute, emergency, or complex primary care backgrounds.
To be successful, you must have:
- Unrestricted AHPRA registration with a minimum of 3 years’ RN experience
- At least 3 years of recent (within last 5 years and excluding post grad year) acute, emergency, or complex primary health clinical experience – essential
- Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and clinical judgment in high-pressure or unpredictable scenarios
- Outstanding communication skills – you’ll be supporting diverse populations, including those with mental health concerns, low English proficiency, and limited health literacy
- Strong computer literacy and confidence with telehealth platforms and digital tools
- A passion for making a difference while working flexibly from home
- Residence within Australia
Key Details
- Part-time or full-time (minimum 20 hours per week)
- Shift options: 2-10 hours
- Operational hours: 3pm – 9am, Monday to Saturday
- Initial contract: until 30 June 2026
Why Join Us?
- Grow your skills in Telehealth - a rapidly expanding area of healthcare delivery
- Play a critical role in emergency and urgent health triage
- Be part of a collaborative and supportive team working virtually
- Contribute to reducing pressure on Australia’s emergency services
