💬 About the role
We’re looking for a Group Support & Engagement Officer who can bring energy, empathy and initiative to our Rivers Program.
In this role, you’ll facilitate and deliver group sessions that support adults and young people across a broad range of ages (16–65+), including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and those with lived experience of mental health challenges.
What you’ll be doing:
Facilitating group programs that inspire participation, learning and connection
Supporting people to achieve personal goals and build psychosocial wellbeing
Working alongside key partners like Wungening Aboriginal Corporation and Multicultural Services Centre WA
Promoting inclusion, cultural safety and community engagement
Leading and mentoring Peer Support Workers to deliver meaningful, person-centred sessions
Building strong networks and low-barrier referral pathways to grow the program
Managing crisis situations calmly and confidently, linking in with relevant mental health supports
🕓 Key details
Candidates must be able to commit to a minimum of 45.6 hours per fortnight (3 set days per week) up to full-time.
Work hours are between 8:00am and 6:30pm (Monday to Friday) in line with program session schedules
Sessions are delivered across North and East Metro Perth, including Rise sites in Warwick and Middle Swan, with occasional travel south.
Applicants must be happy travelling between locations to deliver community-based and site-based sessions.
🎯 What we’re looking for:
A confident facilitator who can design and deliver engaging group sessions from educational and skill-building workshops to recreational activities
Certificate IV qualification (or above) in Human Services (e.g. Mental Health, Disability, Aged Care, Allied Health, Community Services) and/or relevant experience
Experience working within Mental Health Recovery and Person-Led models of practice
Experience leading and supporting teams of Peer Workers
Calm and capable when responding to those who may present in crisis.
Ability to work autonomously and use initiative
Confidence with admin tasks, written communication and tech (including Microsoft Office)
✅ Formal requirements (The serious stuff!)
Driving licence and use of a reliable vehicle for work purposes
NDIS worker screening check (costs for new checks will be covered and/or reimbursed by Rise)
Working with children check (costs for new checks will be covered and/or reimbursed by Rise)

2. How you adapt your facilitation style to engage diverse client groups (aged 16–65+) and work respectfully within different cultural contexts, including with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
3. An example of when you supported someone experiencing mental health challenges or presenting in crisis, and how you maintained a safe and supportive environment for everyone involved.
