Newland Precision Engineering is a privately owned, ISO accredited company specialising in the manufacture of high-quality machinery and equipment for mining, exploration, and mineral processing industries.
With our reputation built on delivering reliable, precision-engineered products, we are expanding and seeking a Junior Engineering Draftsperson to join our team in Bayswater. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting directly to the Design Office Co-ordinator.
About the Role
Main responsibilities will include:
• Assist in the preparation of drawings, plans, and designs for mechanical engineering work.
• Assist in the design of mechanical equipment and plant.
• Assist in the creation of detailed exploded views and technical illustrations for use in product manuals, marketing materials, and online platforms.
• Assist with reverse engineering of components using manual measurements and 3D scanning.
• Ensure designs and finished work meet specifications, regulations, and contract provisions.
• Produce drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using CAD and ERP tools.
• Design parts and assemblies according to technical and Australian safety standards.
• Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, manufacturing techniques, and finishes.
• Liaise with Department Heads to fulfil engineering/drafting requirements.
• Monitor opportunities for process, equipment, and software improvements.
About you
• Cert IV In Engineering Drafting or Diploma in Engineering - Technical.
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a similar role.
• Experience with CAD Software, Autodesk Inventor preferred (SolidWorks or similar experience will also be considered).
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing or fabrication methods.
• Experience with Pronto ERP (desirable).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Sound knowledge of advanced measuring tools.
• Sound problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Sound communication and interpersonal skills
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn new systems or processes.
• Current Driver’s Licence and Forklift Licence (preferred).
• Monitor opportunities for process, equipment, and software improvements.
