St Stephen’s School has a vacancy at our Duncraig Campus for a Full Time (1FTE) Home Economics Teacher commencing Term 1 2026 for 12 months initially.
St Stephen’s offers a wide range of courses across the Technologies Learning Area that include Home Economics. Home Economics contexts include food, textiles, as well as the Certificate 2 course in Hospitality.
Suitable applicants will ideally be innovative and highly motivated educators with the ability to provide quality teaching in the Home Economics curriculum area and work effectively as part of a dedicated team. Applicants should have a passion for their curriculum area and a deep understanding of instructional strategies to effectively engage students in the learning process. Qualifications and ability to teach Certificate 2 course in Hospitality is highly desirable as well as having currency in this area.
Suitable applicants should be reflective practitioners who actively engage in activities to improve their professional practice. They will ideally possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be collaborative members of the whole school community, embracing the school’s vision, values and strategic directions.
THE ROLE
The successful applicant will need to be able to teach Home Economics Food years 7-12, Textiles 7-10 and Certificate 2 Hospitality.

Selection Criteria (each point to be addressed)
Education and Training
Appropriate teaching qualifications and current registration with Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA)
Hold a current Work With Children card
Equivalent qualification to the course you are delivering, or evidence of skills and knowledge required for each unit delivering
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
Currency in Certificate 2 Hospitality
Personal Attributes and Values
Evidence of keeping up to date with industry for UOC’s
Experience in and a preparedness to contribute to the School’s camping, retreat and extra-curricular programs.
High levels of skill in teaching, with a willingness to innovate in order to find better practices
An excellent knowledge of contemporary educational issues and directions especially in his/her learning area
Skills and experience in developing, implementing and evaluating curriculum
Highly developed skills in the application of technology as a learning, teaching and management tool
An ability to foster positive relationships with students, with a commitment to their personal growth
Willingness to positively and actively contribute to the Christian culture of the School.
