Koorana is a well-established gymnastics club based in Morphettville, South Australia. It has a rich and successful history of delivering gymnastics programs from KinderGym and recreational levels, through to competitive men's and women's gymnastics programs, in a purpose-built facility.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Koorana Gymnastics is recruiting a program coordinator to develop and implement a GymAbility program to increase participation in gymnastics-based activity by people with a disability, and in particular, women & girls. This is an initiative supported by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care's 'Play Our Way' grant program.
Over the term of this contract, the successful candidate will develop and establish Koorana's GymAbility program. This includes:
developing the program in consultation with prospective user groups
running trial/come-and-try opportunities to test and validate the optimal program format/s
scaling the program to a point of ongoing sustainability, including developing club and coach capability and attracting regular users
ensuring the program is delivered safely in accordance with industry and club guidelines.
This contract will initially be offered at between 0.6FTE and 1.0FTE for approximately 4-6 months.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Development
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role will oversee the development of the program - including program format(s), pricing model(s) and lesson plans, focussing on areas such as Motor Skills Development, Sensory Integration, and Social & Emotional Learning. Key outputs include:
Inclusive Participation: Developing flexible program offerings - such as classes and workshops - that can be tailored to the varying needs of participants
Barrier Reduction: Utilising specialised equipment and developing staff capability to support users with a range of disabilities.
Sustainable Growth: Securing anchor participants (groups / schools) to ensure the program is viable and can be scaled into the the future
Cultural Change: Promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect within the gymnastics community.
Program Management & Marketing
The role will work closely with other Program coordinators and administration staff. Key outputs include:
Effectively manage the Gymability program including scheduling, billing, attendance records, and class enquiries.
Coordinate adaptations to the environment and equipment modifications for the Gymability program.
Ensure session plans are safe, challenging, and appropriate for the activity level and individual needs of Gymability participants.
Initiate and encourage improvements to this and other Club programs, focusing on adaptive equipment and inclusive practices.
Ascertain benchmarks for efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction and introduce strategies to work toward these benchmarks, incorporating feedback from participants, families, and partners.
Drive a strategy to engage with local community groups to raise awareness about the program and encourage participation.
Attract an adequate number of anchor clients (individuals and groups) to secure the sustainability of the program into FY27.
Staff Management
Build a competent and motivated team of coaches who deliver safe, quality and stimulating inclusive programs tailored to gymnasts' level, individual skills and aspirations, with specific training in disability inclusion.
Ensure all coaching staff are appropriately qualified for the roles undertaken, including running effective in-house training activities.
Manage coaches roster to maintain appropriate Coach:Athlete ratios and evaluate staff time sheets for accurate payroll management.
Mentor and supervise staff in training.
Monitor performance of coaches and provide positive, constructive feedback periodically.
Ensure all coaching staff are aware of industry and club coaching practices, policies and protocols including adaptive coaching methods, and familiar with club safety and injury management practices and reporting requirements.
Promptly and effectively resolve staffing issues.
Communication & Liaison
Build positive relationships and effectively communicate with all stakeholders including face-to-face meetings with parents, caregivers, therapists, and partner organisations.
Communicate key information about the program with parents/caregivers when required, utilising appropriate communication tools.
Respond to enquiries relating to Gymability in a timely manner via phone and email.
Submit timely and accurate written program reports to the Operations Manager as requested.
Attend and actively participate in management meetings when required.
Engage with local communities to raise awareness about the program and encourage participation.

Skills & Knowledge
Sound knowledge of fundamental movement development with an understanding of adaptive gymnastics
Knowledge of disability inclusion principles and adaptive coaching methodologies
Familiarity with various communication aids and strategies for individuals with diverse needs.
Working understanding of human resource management practice issues including Child Safety, WHS, Bullying, Harassment and Discrimination,
Basic administration and computer skills to enable input into the club CRM, GSA data entry and answer enquiries via email
Experience
Proven experience in the effective management of a fundamental movement program, or a program specifically designed for individuals with disabilities
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in managing fundamental movement programs or disability-specific programs is required
Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and motivate staff, including providing disability inclusion training
Experience in collaborating with families, caregivers, and external support services.
Qualifications
A current DHS Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Completed Gymnastics Australia's Child Safe Online Course
Gymnastics Australia's Child Safe Online Course may be completed within 30 days of commencement if not already completed
Meets all requirements of the Member Protection Policy and Child Safe Policy
Desirable:
Formal training or certification in disability inclusion or adaptive sports.
