Due to rapid expansion, we are seeking an experienced Transport Planner for our Tottenham Depot working Day Shift 7.30 – 8.00am start - Monday – Friday in a permanent full-time capacity.
About the role
As the Transport Planner you are responsible for coordinating and planning transport movements to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of goods in line with the business and customers’ requirements. This role works closely with customer service, operational and warehouse teams to consolidate consignments, manage transport bookings, and optimise route and carrier utilisation.
You will support the achievement of service performance and contractual targets by maintaining visibility over order flow, identifying risks or delays, and working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery plans are met.
The Transport Planner plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operational and customer service teams. This role is responsible for ensuring the local daily operational plan is achieved, by efficiently setting the fleet up in a cost effective, safe and customer focused manner. Reporting to the Transport Manager this position will plan and schedule ensuring that delivery and pick up runs are achieved within set time frames.

Core Responsibilities.
Develop and execute detailed logistics plans, coordinating routes, containers and freight, and manage the logistics of these movements between wharf, warehouses and destinations
Monitor the flow of containers and vehicles, and ensure all shipments are delivered on time and within budget.
Utilise analytical skills to interpret logistics data, identify inefficiencies, and implement solutions to improve performance, reduce costs, and enhance delivery times.
Ensure all transport operations comply with relevant COR and NHVR regulations and company policies.
Collaborate with internal team members in both operations and customer service, and external partners to ensure that all logistics operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Continuously evaluate logistics operations to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
Maintain accurate records of all logistics activities and prepare reports as needed.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to logistics operations.
Assisting with costings, rates and expenditures for existing and new customers when required
Skills
Must have 5+ years experience in wharf transport in either supervising, fleet controlling or planning and understand all workings of wharf cartage
Have excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking attributes
Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to collaborate with all internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals and deliver service excellence
Be proficient in Transport management systems ( TMS) software, Container Chain , Onestop and if possible Freighttracker.( can train up)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and mathematical minded to ensure accuracy with cost effective solutions and deliverables
Meticulously manage complex logistics processes and maintain attention to detail to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Work autonomously with ease and thrives in pressure situations
Solid and accurate data entry skills
