The Role
Livingstone Shire Council is seeking a motivated and skilled Vector Management Officer to join our team. This role is vital in supporting Council’s commitment to public health by managing and reducing vectors and pest insects within the Shire in a professional, efficient, and confidential manner. If you have a passion for community health, strong technical knowledge, and excellent interpersonal skills, this could be the perfect role for you.
Reporting to the Coordinator Community Compliance, the key responsibilities of the role include:
Administration and enforcement of the Public Health Act 2005 regarding public health risks and designated pests pertaining to identified vectors.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Local Laws, procedures and policies of Livingstone Shire Council including conducting inspections of premises, site inspections and the issuing of correspondence in relation to non-compliance.
Assist with the management of operational/service related complaints and issues to ensure prompt identification and appropriate action prior to escalating to Senior Officers.
Collect and report on data relating to vectors and insect pests in the Livingstone Shire Council including species numbers, numbers caught, tidal impacts and weather statistics.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will:
Possess a Diploma – Local Government Health and Environment or equivalent relevant qualification;
Pest Management Technicians Licence (fumigation) or have the ability to obtain;
Commercial Operators Licence (ACDC) or have the ability to obtain; and
Possess and maintain a current motor vehicle driver licence.
Pre-employment Screening
Preferred candidates will be required to participate in and complete:
A successful Functional Capacity Evaluation; and
Be willing and able to be immunised against Hepatitis A&B and Tetanus.
