This is an Identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. Aboriginality is a genuine qualification authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination ACT 1977

Indigeco is working in partnership with the Catholic Education Office, Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn (CECG), which operates 56 schools and nine early learning centres across ACT and NSW. With over 22,000 students and 4,000 staff, CECG is committed to creating inclusive, culturally safe learning environments where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are embedded and celebrated.

About the Role

  • Support principals, teachers, and Aboriginal Education Workers with professional advice and resources on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education and cultural responsiveness.
  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives that build culturally safe and inclusive school environments.
  • Support curriculum development to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and perspectives.
  • Coordinate significant cultural events such as Sorry Day, NAIDOC Week, and Reconciliation Week across schools and the wider community.
  • Foster partnerships with parents, carers, Elders, and Aboriginal organisations to strengthen student outcomes and school-community connections.
  • Provide mentoring, networking, and support for Aboriginal Education Workers and teachers across the Archdiocese.


About You

  • Identified Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with strong cultural knowledge and community connections.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education (postgraduate qualifications desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Aboriginal families, communities, and stakeholders to support education outcomes.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills with the ability to influence and support across multiple schools.
  • Experience in curriculum development, cultural safety initiatives, or professional learning for teachers.
  • Ability to travel within ACT and NSW to support schools and communities.
  • Current Working With Vulnerable People (ACT) and Working With Children (NSW) checks, plus a driver’s licence.
