This is an exciting opportunity to work in the DCS Cyber & Information Security Office (CISO) working closely with DCS agencies to uplift and improve cyber security ensuring DCS digital services are safe and secure.
About the role
The Security Programs team leads the delivery of the DCS Cyber Security Strategy to reduce the likelihood and consequences of cyber incidents by strengthening defences, safeguarding sensitive data, and protecting government services.
We are seeking a Security Project Manager to lead the Network Security Stream, a key component of our security uplift program. This role will focus on planning and delivering initiatives that enhance network resilience across on‑premises and cloud environments.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading multi‑disciplinary project teams, including network and security specialists and third‑party service providers.
- Facilitating workshops to research, understand and obtain knowledge on the challenges and issues involved with cyber security compliance, privacy and information security.
- Managing scope, schedule, budget, and risk across multiple workstreams.
- Coordinating internal teams and vendors to deliver secure network outcomes.
- Developing project implementation plans, procurement documentation, and briefing notes.
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience delivering complex ICT or cyber security projects from initiation to closure.
- Knowledge of infrastructure and network security concepts across on‑premises data centres and public cloud (AWS/Azure), with an understanding of how network, cloud, and identity components align to enable secure solutions.
- Experience collaborating with architects/engineers to translate functional reference designs into delivery roadmaps that realise agreed network security outcomes, with defined milestones and dependencies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage vendors, contracts, and multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience in risk management, compliance alignment, and financial control.
Desirable Criteria
- Technical network experience or qualifications would be highly regarded
- Understanding of Cloud networking: VPC/VNet design, gateways, and hybrid connectivity patterns;Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for network provisioning.
- Segmentation & Access Control: Experience managing the implementation of network segmentation and identity‑based access models.
- Professional certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP (PMBOK), ITIL (v3/v4), CCNA, and CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent).
- Prior experience in government or regulated environments.
