About the opportunity

The Events Officer plays a pivotal role in the Community Engagement team, delivering high impact public engagement activities that promote the University’s values and mission. This role assists with the planning, coordination, production, promotion, delivery, and evaluation of community engagement events.

The role requires strong project management and communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively. An in-depth knowledge of event logistics and event management is required to support the organisation, delivery and promotion of engagement activities and events.

What you’ll do:

  • Coordinate the planning, project management, promotion, delivery, measurement, and evaluation of community engagement events that promote the message and values of the University to the wider community.
  • Provide event coordination support for in-person, online and hybrid engagement events, liaise with internal and external event suppliers, and produce event run sheets, event briefing notes, participant schedules, event resources and event delivery assets.
  • Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to promote community engagement events, including planning and developing content as well as writing and publishing event communications for traditional, web and social media channels.
  • Publish events on the University website, including managing requests, sourcing copy, creating visual asset and ensuring the University Events Calendar meets University brand guidelines.
  • Coordinate volunteer and casual staffing for events, including preparing rosters, briefing and supervising event staff.
  • Maintain stakeholder contact and evaluation data for community engagement events and activities.

What we’re looking for:

  • Completion of degree level qualification and experience in event/communications/project management or a related area and/or relevant experience.
  • Experience in developing event plans, and an understanding and application of event communications and logistics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across a geographically dispersed team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to confidently liaise with people of various skills, experience and background to achieve win-win outcomes.
  • Ability to act independently using initiative, judgement and discretion.
  • Digital literacy, including the ability to use contemporary computer-based systems including design software, communication platforms, administrative systems, records management, and database applications.
  • Ability and willingness to engage in regular intrastate travel.
  • Availability to work out of normal business hours and weekends from time to time.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 5 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $105,665 comprising base salary within the range of $80,869 to $90,312 plus 17% superannuation.
