The Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Policy and Support Officer to join the newly established Safety and Security function within the Office of the Chief Risk Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new team driving a major security reform project that will transform how safety and security are delivered across the Department of Health.

Reporting to the Principal Policy Officer – Safety and Security, you will contribute to the development of policies, provide project support, and help deliver initiatives under the 10-Point Plan. You will also provide high-level administrative and coordination support across a wide range of project and policy activities.

Key duties include:

  • Assisting in the development of policies that support safe and secure healthcare environments.
  • Providing project and research support to the Safety, Security and Quality Unit (SSQU), including collation of information, monitoring deliverables, and preparing reports.
  • Undertaking research and analysis to contribute to briefings, submissions, and business cases.
  • Building strong networks with stakeholders across the health service and beyond.
  • Providing high-level administrative support, including meeting coordination, agendas, minutes, and confidential correspondence.

You will need to:

  • Provide support for project work associated with the 10-Point Plan.
  • Assist in the development of policy and provide workforce, legislative, regulatory and clinical governance advice for SSQU and other stakeholders.
  • Undertake research and analysis to contribute to briefings, submissions, applications and business cases relating to SSQU projects and policy issues, including the identification of options and recommendations.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $81,915 to $94,263 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
