We are now seeking a highly experienced, motivated and passionate Senior Sous Chef at Angus & Bon; our New York style steakhouse located in Prahran's' original 19th century post office which has gone from strength to strength and is now one of Melbourne's busiest steakhouses.
This is a leadership role together with planning, preparing and cooking menu items that complements our restaurants' look and ambience, elevating the dining experience for our loyal patrons and attracting new ones.
What you will be doing:
Planning, preparing and cooking menu items as directed by the Head Chef
Assisting in the development and planning of menus, including future food trends, and to be passionate about developing new styles of service and concepts in the location
Assisting with stocktake and purchasing when required
Carrying out the smooth and efficient running of your section as appropriate and staff supervision
Demonstrating in food preparation and cooking skills as directed by the Head Chef
Compiling all food orders for sections under your supervision, ensuring food standards and costs are agreed with the Head Chef; ensuring stock, deliveries and wastage are all checked and recorded in line with company and food standards
Gaining an understanding of food costing, sales mix and menu planning
What we are looking for:
At least 2-3-years experience in a similar role within a commercial kitchen
Experience using cooking the books, my local foodie or other ordering/stocktaking platforms (ideal but not essential)
Availability to work a flexible rotating roster - we are open 7 days a week
A strong work ethic, reliable and serious about making the best dishes you can using the freshest produce
