Assistant Director, Maternal & Child Health
The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) is seeking an Assistant Director, Maternal & Child Health to lead and drive national initiatives improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. This is a leadership role with the opportunity to shape strategic priorities and strengthen community-driven health programs.
About the Role
As Assistant Director, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership for NACCHO’s Maternal and Child Health team, aligning with Closing the Gap priority reforms.
- Lead a small team to deliver national maternal and child health priorities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community-controlled health services, government departments, advisory committees, academia, and other stakeholders.
- Drive the finalisation and implementation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander maternal and child health plan.
- Lead Secretariat functions and represent NACCHO at meetings, conferences, and national forums.

- Engage with diverse stakeholders to strengthen programs such as Birthing on Country.
About You
- Proven experience in leadership and stakeholder management, preferably in health, social work, public administration, or related fields.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is highly desirable.
- Strong strategic, planning, and project management skills.
