The Role
We are partnering with a global financial services leader to find a skilled Compliance Specialist with a focus on licensing to join their growing team. Reporting to the Associate Director, Compliance and Risk, this role is crucial for strengthening the licensed entity framework across the Australia and New Zealand business.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on compliance professional with Capital Markets or Corporate Trust experience. You will play a key part in a growing team, taking ownership of licensing controls, monitoring, and the development of policies and procedures. Your expertise will be vital in navigating the local regulatory landscape for a company backed by a supportive, forward-thinking global leadership team.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring compliance with AFSL obligations and supporting licensed entity governance.
- Conducting hands-on compliance monitoring and testing of licensing controls.
- Developing and adjusting policies and procedures, particularly for the Capital Markets business line.
- Providing sound, independent advice on licensing and compliance matters to internal stakeholders.
- Liaising with key regulators including ASIC and FMA.
- Supporting the implementation of compliance frameworks for licensed entities, including regulatory reporting and breach management.
- Assisting with internal audit enquiries and investigations into compliance incidents.
- Preparing compliance reports for management and participating in ad-hoc projects.
You
- A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a compliance or risk role within financial services.
- Specific experience with Capital Markets or Corporate Trust is required.
- Strong practical experience with AFSL obligations, licensed entity frameworks, and local regulatory requirements.
- A proven track record of dealing with regulators like ASIC or FMA.
- An independent, proactive, and meticulous professional with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
- A degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
