In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimisation of mechanical systems critical to steel processing and heavy industrial operations. We have 2 positions available, one based at our Eagle Farm location and the other at Carole Park.

Your responsibilities will include:

Perform fault-finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy industrial equipment

Diagnose mechanical failures and implement engineering solutions to maximise uptime and efficiency

Carry out installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment both in workshop and on-site environments

Conduct routine servicing, overhauls, and refurbishments of steel and processing plant and equipment

Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to complete fabrication and assembly tasks

Ensure all work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with InfraBuild standards

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, or equivalent

Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical fitting within steel, FMCG, heavy industry, or industrial engineering

Strong expertise with valves, pumps, actuators, hydraulics, and heavy plant equipment

Proven ability to diagnose faults, conduct overhauls, and implement preventative maintenance strategies

Ability to interpret drawings and work independently or within a collaborative team

Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement

Tickets and other licenses are highly regarded (Forklift, Working at Heights, Crane)

Current Australian driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites as needed

Ability to lead teams and projects effectively, safety and to budget
