EL1 Manager Corporate Governance & Risk
Location: Darlinghurst, Sydney CBD
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 6 months (+ poss 3 month extension)
Pay: $77.45-$88.34/hour + super
Hours: 37.5/week, initially 5 days/week in the office then can go down to 3 days in office and 2 work from home.
As the Manager of Corporate Governance and Risk, you will be crucial in ensuring the agency adheres to its legislative and compliance obligations. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Governance Frameworks: Maintaining and updating governance frameworks, policies, and procedures through expert drafting and review.
- Risk & Compliance: Identifying, monitoring, and reporting on governance risks, issues, and benefits to the Executive Officer and broader leadership.
- Legislative Oversight: Providing strategic advice on and managing a range of legislative and compliance obligations (including PGPA Act, protective security, privacy, and records management).
- Ministerial Liaison: Assisting with ministerial and parliamentary liaison requirements, including preparing timely and accurate responses to questions on notice.
- Strategic Advice: Offering informed advice on complex governance matters to support the agency's strategic vision and decision-making.
Key Skills:
To succeed in this dynamic role, you will need proven capability in a similar regulatory environment:
- Strong understanding of corporate governance obligations for a Commonwealth agency, with exposure to the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act) and Commonwealth Procurement Rules being highly regarded.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to tailor complex and sensitive information for executive and external audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes on time and to a high quality standard in a demanding environment.
- Strong research and analytical skills, enabling you to deliver accurate and relevant information to inform key decisions.

- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Baseline Clearance or willingness to obtain
- Desirable: Qualifications in Law, Risk, or Compliance, and prior experience in governance within a Commonwealth or State Government setting.
