Are you an experienced and compassionate Registered Psychiatric Nurse (with a post graduate mental health nursing qualification, or equivalent) seeking to make a real difference in acute mental health care?
Drake Medox, one of Australia's leading providers of complex health support services, is currently recruiting RPNs to join a high-performing mental health service team, delivering inpatient psychiatric care for adults experiencing acute mental illness.
About the Role
In this role, you'll work within a multidisciplinary team providing person-centred, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care to consumers during the acute phase of mental illness. Services are provided in a hospital-based inpatient setting, with patients who may be experiencing:
Schizophrenia
First-episode psychosis
Bipolar disorder
Severe personality disorder
Severe depression or anxiety
You will support consumers through comprehensive assessment, crisis stabilization, and short-term treatment, with the goal of enabling their safe transition to community-based care.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver safe, evidence-based psychiatric nursing care in an inpatient setting
Conduct risk and mental state assessments; develop and review care plans
Collaborate with consumers, carers, and team members
Apply principles of Trauma-Informed Care, Safewards, and Recovery-Focused Practice
Participate in clinical reviews, education, and continuous improvement initiatives
Work within relevant legal and ethical frameworks, including the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022
Engage in regular feedback and performance development processes
About You
You are a dedicated, client-focused nurse who thrives in a collaborative environment and has:
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
A qualification in Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing or a nursing degree with relevant postgraduate qualification
Sound knowledge of current mental health legislation, standards, and practice models
Strong clinical skills in psychiatric assessment and acute care delivery
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
A commitment to ongoing learning, reflective practice, and ethical care
Desirable
Current Driver's Licence
Proficiency with digital health documentation
Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples or ACCHOs
Understanding of NSQHS Standards and ACMHN Competencies
