Your day as a Senior Solicitor

The Senior Solicitor will play a pivotal role in providing legal support to the Procurement Reform & Banking Group (PR&B) in NSW Treasury. The PR&B group is responsible for amongst other things, procurement reform initiatives and all-of-government procurement contracts in energy, travel, fleet vehicles and human and professional services. The group is focused on using public sector procurement to achieve financial, social and economic goals.

You will be joining our Office of The General Counsel (OGC) and will be working within the Commercial, Procurement & Banking branch of the OGC. Read more about your future Group and Division.

Your day to day will involve:

· advising on high-value, complex procurement transactions and policy initiatives that are critical to the State’s operations

· reviewing and drafting various agreements to ensure that Treasury’s transactions are legally sound and align with policy objectives

· managing disputes by providing strategic legal advice and working with stakeholders to achieve favourable outcomes

· providing advice on Treasury-specific legislation such as the Public Works and Procurement Act 1912 and Government Sector Finance Act 2018

· liaising with the Crown Solicitor’s Office/other external law firms as necessary to obtain specialist advice and manage interaction between the external legal advisers and Treasury stakeholders

Achieve success as Senor Solicitor

In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

· Admitted as a legal practitioner with a current practising certificate and 5+ years PQE (or equivalent experience).

· Strong experience in providing legal services in a law firm or a sophisticated in-house environment, including providing legal advice, drafting procurement or commercial agreements or driving proactive legal strategies for commercial dispute resolution.

· Experience in procurement, commercial or administrative law, or ability to learn new legal areas and familiarity with relevant legislation and case law.

· Proven ability to deliver timely, relevant legal services collaboratively and flexibly in a high-volume, complex environment.

Eligibility
