Cloud Solution EngineerPosition Title: Cloud Solution Engineer
Reports To: Technical Lead, Software Engineering
Business Unit / Team: Architecture & Engineering, Technology Office

Key Purpose of the Role

The Cloud Solution Engineer (Data Integration team) is responsible for designing, building, and operating reliable, cloud-native data integration solutions that enable efficient data flow across systems. This includes supporting both real-time and batch requirements, ensuring security, observability, and alignment to modern engineering standards. The role focuses on ingesting and transforming data from multiple systems using scalable event-driven and batch processing techniques, and delivering harmonised datasets via APIs, messaging platforms, and data stores. It also includes overseeing secure file-based integrations, implementing automated infrastructure patterns, and applying DevOps/cloud-native best practices.
You will collaborate with software engineers, data analysts, architects, and business SMEs to deliver solutions that are scalable, observable, resilient, and well-documented.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Integration Design & Delivery

  • Design and implement streaming and batch data ingestion pipelines using cloud-native services.
  • Transform and harmonise data into common data models, staged in relational databases, and exposed through APIs or messaging interfaces.
  • Build resilient file transfer workflows (scheduling, parsing, transformation logic).
  • Develop and maintain reusable integration patterns, templates, and infrastructure-as-code.

2. Cloud-Native Engineering & Automation

  • Use infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines for deployments.
  • Monitor and maintain non-production and production cloud environments (performance, cost, availability).
  • Ensure services are secure, observable, and instrumented with logging and alerting.

3. DataOps & DevOps Practices

  • Apply DevOps and DataOps principles: continuous integration, configuration-as-code, automated testing.
  • Leverage git workflows and CI/CD tooling for agile and rollback-safe delivery.
  • Align with platform-wide standards and architectural guardrails.

4. BAU, Continuous Improvement & Incident Management

  • Support BAU operations for data integration services, ensuring high availability.
  • Proactively improve performance, reduce complexity, and strengthen resilience.
  • Respond to incidents and troubleshoot across cloud services, APIs, data stores, and file transfer systems.
  • Complete incident post-mortems and implement lessons learned.

5. Collaboration & Technical Leadership

  • Partner with analysts, developers, architects, and external partners to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Contribute to technical designs, data mappings, and runbooks.
  • Provide mentorship and support capability uplift through chapter/guild activities.

6. Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify opportunities for reusability and reducing integration friction.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions clearly and effectively.

Required Capabilities, Qualifications & ExperienceCapabilities

  • Cloud-native integration services: serverless, containers, pub/sub, orchestration.
  • Streaming/event-driven platforms (e.g., Kafka).
  • Programming & scripting: TypeScript, Python (preferred), or similar.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform or equivalent.
  • CI/CD pipelines: Git workflows, automated build/test/deploy (Azure DevOps desirable).
  • Relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) for staging and transformations.
  • Strong SQL (ETL and query performance tuning).
  • Graph databases (AWS Neptune highly desirable).
  • AWS Glue with PySpark for large-scale processing.

Experience

  • Proven end-to-end delivery of cloud-based data integration solutions.
  • Data modelling, profiling, and source-to-target mapping.
  • Strong DevOps/DataOps practices (version control, monitoring, automation).
  • File-based integration design and operations.
  • Agile squad experience.
  • Strong documentation and stakeholder engagement skills.

Experience

  • Hybrid work model
  • Melbourne CBD location
  • Salary range: 190K ~ 210K
