Solution Architect – Digital (AWS)

About the Role

Reporting to the Enterprise Domain Architect, this role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and govern a portfolio of architecture and design initiatives within the Digital business unit.

You will be responsible for shaping cloud-native digital solutions on AWS that power customer-facing applications, portals, APIs, and integration layers. Working closely with business and technology stakeholders, you’ll ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and cost-effective, while driving innovation and modern engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Architecture – Architect cloud-native digital solutions on AWS to support web, mobile, API, and integration platforms.
  
  
• Business Engagement – Develop a deep understanding of business needs, translating current and future-state requirements into technology solutions.
  
  
• Technology Evaluation – Review technical papers, assess emerging technologies (AI, data platforms, customer engagement tools), and provide recommendations to senior architecture leadership.
  
  
• Innovation & Best Practice – Champion DevOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, API-first design, and automation across digital solution delivery.
  
  
• Continuous Improvement – Recommend solutions that improve portfolio flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and performance.
  
  

About You

To make a strong impact in this role, you’ll bring proven experience with large-scale solution architecture and deployments across complex, cloud-based environments. You will also demonstrate:

• Qualifications – Tertiary degree in IT or related discipline (Cloud certifications highly desirable).
  
  
• Architecture Expertise – Strong background in designing and managing solution architectures across multiple domains in large organisations.
  
  
• Digital Delivery – Track record of delivering solutions across digital channels: web, mobile, APIs, portals, CRM, self-service, and marketing tech.
  
  
• Cloud & Microservices – Hands-on experience designing and implementing microservices-based architectures in AWS environments.
  
  
• Engineering Mindset – Ability to apply software engineering principles to architecture design and delivery.
  
  
• Collaboration & Influence – Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build strong relationships and negotiate win-win outcomes.
  
  
• Ways of Working – Experience working within Agile and DevOps environments.
  
  
• Industry Awareness – Understanding of industry trends and how digital technologies can enhance customer engagement.
