About the position
As an Employment Support Officer, you will support people with disability who are currently employed, have recently secured employment, or whose job may be at risk due to their disability. You will also provide on-the-job assistance for those undertaking Work Experience Placements and Work Trials. If you're passionate about building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders while representing Ability WA, this is the opportunity for you.
This is a Part-Time Permanent position based at our Malaga Office.
As an Employment Support Officer, you will:
- Provide individualised, on-the-job support for customers based on their Job Plan, ensuring needs such as transport, skills training, and verbal/physical assistance are met.
- Identify priority customers and implement agreed responsibilities to help maintain their employment.
- Update Job Plans and maintain customer documentation and records to the required standard.
- Liaise with employers, families, and co-workers to ensure job requirements are met and sustained.
- Actively contribute to service consistency and excellence, including achievement of employment goals and program success.
- Participate in professional development sessions and operational planning.
- Assist in compiling and maintaining work procedures and instructions aligned with quality standards.
- Support customers in adapting to their roles through tailored training and workplace adjustments.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of workshops and skill-building activities.
- Collaborate with training providers and accreditation bodies to support employment pathways.

About You
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
- A relevant post-secondary or tertiary qualification
- Experience providing direct support in disability or government-funded employment services
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor communication to different audiences
- High-level prioritisation and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of the National Standards for Disability Services, Community Inclusion philosophy, and active support practices
- Current Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance (within 6 months), WA Driver’s Licence, NDIS Worker Screening Check, NDIS Orientation Module, and COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate
