The PTA is seeking a permanent, dynamic and driven Competency Manager to lead and manage our Competency Management function.
This role involves the development, implementation, and maintenance of competency frameworks and standards for numerous roles across a number of our operational divisions. You will be partnering with divisional branches to ensure their teams are competent and remain competent and effectively bringing together all the moving parts that make up our competency management system.
As the Competency Manager, you will lead a small team and serve as a vital link between stakeholders across the organisation, providing expert advice and support. You will ensure competency frameworks comply with legislative, regulatory, and safety standards and act as the primary contact between operational divisions and People & Organisational Development (POD) areas.
You will represent the PTA at relevant forums, effectively manage your team and other stakeholders to achieve competency outcomes, chair technical working groups and committees, mentor and support staff, maintain competency documentation, track and report assessments, and evaluate the overall success of the competency program.
About You!
To excel in this role, you should possess:
Demonstrated competency management experience, within a rail and/or other highly regulated environment (preferred but not essential)
Cert IV Training and Assessment minimum or willingness to obtain within first 12 months)
Demonstrated ability to operate within legislative requirements and parameters.
Strong leadership and management skills including the ability to effectively steer and manage change
Effective stakeholder management and communication skills
Superior problem solving skills and initiative

This is a full time, permanent position available for an immediate start
To be eligible to work permanently at the PTA you must be either an Australian Citizen, have Permanent Residency status or hold a current visa with permanent working rights in Australia.
