About the role

We are seeking an experienced Bar Supervisor / Sommelier with a passion for local/natural/low intervention wines to join our team at Aster Cocktail & Wine Bar in the heart of Melbourne. This role will see you supervising the day-to-day operations of the bar, while also showcasing your expertise in wine and cocktail knowledge to provide an exceptional customer experience, help build the wine list, train staff and drink lot of wine.

What you'll be doing

Supervise and coordinate the bar team to ensure efficient and seamless service while having fun.

Participate in inventory management, stock ordering, and budgeting for the bar

Develop and implement best practices for cocktail and wine service

Train and develop the bar team to enhance their product knowledge and service skills

Provide exceptional customer service and offer tailored recommendations on cocktails, wines, and other beverages

Ensure compliance with all relevant liquor licensing and workplace regulations

What we're looking for

Minimum 2 years' experience in a bar supervisor or sommelier role within the hospitality industry

Strong working knowledge of wine and cocktail preparation, including an understanding of flavour profiles and pairings

Excellent customer service skills and the ability to provide a premium beverage experience

Proven experience in leading and motivating a team to deliver high standards of service

Strong attention to detail and budgeting/inventory management skills

Passion for the hospitality industry and a commitment to continuous learning

Relevant qualifications or certifications in hospitality or sommelier training would be highly regarded- WSET 2 or equivalent is a minimum.
