Our client, a key Federal Government department leading national efforts in climate policy, environmental protection, energy, and water resource management, is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to create clear and concise documentation for technical products and services.

Duties of the Technical Writer

• Document/update all SOPs across sections to ensure consistency and standardisation;
• Develop and apply a standard framework for SOPs;
• Review technical documentation to ensure clarity, accuracy, and appropriate use of language;
• Provide targeted feedback to enhance content quality and support skills transfer;
• Support the development of clear, high-level written descriptions of design concepts and outputs for external stakeholders;
• Facilitate workshops to help the Branch develop the skills needed for authoring technical content, as well as translating complex instructions into clear, actionable documentation.

Skills and Experience Required

• Proven experience as a Technical Writer (essential);
• Sound knowledge of technical writing fundamentals;
• Experience creating materials for Government;
• Advanced writing and editing skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts and processes clearly and effectively;
• Ability to organise and present a range of technical material to a variety of audiences;
• Interest in working in a highly multi-disciplinary sphere integrating policy development, legislative reform, environmental information/spatial data, stakeholder engagement and ecological/conservation knowledge.
