Position Overview

We are currently seeking compassionate and skilled Disability Support Workers to join our team to provide tailored support for a client in Darley who uses a wheelchair and requires a hoist for transfers. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals, enhancing their quality of life, and promoting community inclusion.

Start Date: Friday 10th October 2025

Responsibilities

Provide person-centered support to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities.

Safely operate and manage manual handling equipment including hoists, slide sheets, and wheelchairs.

Assist clients with personal care tasks, including grooming, hygiene, transfers, and mobility.

Support individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills.

Foster positive relationships with clients, their families, and other support networks.

Implement and document individualized support plans in collaboration with case managers.

Encourage and facilitate community participation and social engagement.

Provide emotional support and companionship to enhance the overall well-being of clients.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and holistic care.

Requirements

Previous experience in disability support, aged care, or personal care is essential.

Certificate III or IV in Disability Support, Aged Care, or a relevant qualification.

Demonstrated experience supporting clients who use wheelchairs and hoist transfers.

Completion of Manual Handling Training and Hoist Training (or willingness to complete prior to commencement).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to implement behaviour support plans.

Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to the welfare of individuals with disabilities.

Ability to adapt to the specific individual needs and preferences of clients.

Current First Aid and CPR certifications.

A valid driver's license and reliable car is required.

Pay Rates

Weekday Shift: $35

Saturday: $45

Sunday: $60
