About Us

Local Land Services (LLS) is an Executive Agency within the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development NSW. It provides quality, customer-focused services to landholders and the community across New South Wales. This regionally based organisation brings together a wide range of service and advisory functions including agriculture, biosecurity, natural resource management, land management, biodiversity, emergency services, private native forestry and management of Travelling Stock Reserves (TSR).

We are committed to making a real difference within the local community, and we are seeking to find high achievers within our community to help us with our future expansions. You will be part of a highly respected team that values its employees and their input.

Join our team serving the North Coast Local Land Services region, spanning from Tweed in the north down to Port Macquarie in the south (approximately 32,000 km²). This region is characterised by diverse temperate and subtropical landscapes and supports a wide range of primary industries—from beef, dairy, and pork to soybeans, aquaculture, coffee, and horticulture. The local economy is deeply tied to natural resource management, with a strong regional emphasis on pest control, sustainable land use, biodiversity protection and climate resilience.

About the role

As the General Manager for the North Coast Region, you'll be at the helm, guiding and inspiring multiple teams across various functional areas and locations. Your leadership will be crucial in managing operations and resources for services in biosecurity, natural resource management, primary production advice, and emergency management. Additionally, you'll spearhead your region's response to LLS programs during emergencies.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Delivery, you'll oversee a diverse team handling complex projects, you'll also foster relationships and collaborate with inter-government working groups to enhance effective management. Working closely with the North Coast LLS Regional Board, you'll be responsible for the financial and milestone performance for the region, along with people and asset management.

About you

To excel in this role, you need to be a dynamic leader with a track record of successfully delivering projects and programs in complex environments. Your passion for Regional NSW and its landholders, coupled with a deep understanding of the challenges they face, will be crucial.

You should have extensive experience in negotiation and influencing across various business units in both government and private sectors. Your ability to develop and manage high-performing, multidisciplinary teams will set you apart.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders is essential. You should be adept at using collaboration to drive business improvements.

As a proven leader, you will support and develop your team, enhancing their capabilities. Given that your team is spread across the region, effective remote management skills are vital, and a driver's license is a must for this role.

To apply, please submit an updated CV and cover letter outlining your relevant experience.
