Your new role:

As the Speech Pathologist Team Leader for the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service (BIRS), you will deliver advanced clinical services and provide professional leadership to a specialised team. This role supports patients with complex rehabilitation needs, while also driving service development, education, and research initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing advanced clinical care, assessment, and treatment planning for complex patients
  • Leading and supervising Speech Pathologists, Clinical Assistants, and Trainees
  • Driving professional governance, succession planning, and workforce development
  • Contributing to innovative models of care, service redesign, and evidence-based practice
  • Leading service improvement and research projects of clinical significance
  • Building strong interprofessional partnerships to enhance patient outcomes

About you:

We are seeking a highly motivated clinical leader with advanced expertise in Speech Pathology and a passion for rehabilitation and innovation.

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Advanced clinical knowledge in speech pathology within brain injury rehabilitation
  • Strong leadership skills, including supervision, workforce planning, and governance
  • High-level communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary settings
  • Proven ability to lead service improvements, innovation, and research initiatives
  • Eligibility for practising membership with Speech Pathology Australia

The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary health care centre providing care in most major adult specialties. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplant.

We are nationally recognised for our expertise in trauma management and organ transplants and are one of Australia's leading academic and research health centres. The PAH as a major medical research precinct hosts Australia's most advanced medical research facility, the Translational Research Institute (TRI) as well as a new Clinical Research Facility for the discoveries made at TRI to be trialed in a safe clinical environment.
