The opportunity

General Steel, a leading manufacturer of high-quality steel products, is seeking an experienced Heavy Metal Fabricator to join our team in Caringbah, NSW. This full-time role is a key position within our growing operation, responsible for the fabrication and assembly of complex metal structures to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to fabricate metal components and assemblies

Operate a variety of metalworking machinery and tools including welding equipment, grinders, and power tools

Perform precision cutting, shaping, and joining of metal parts to assemble final products

Ensure all work meets quality and safety standards

Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot issues and find solutions

Maintain a clean and organised work environment

Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to less experienced team members

What we're looking for

Minimum 5 years' experience as a Heavy Metal Fabricator or similar role in the trades and services industry

Strong skills in welding, cutting, and metal fabrication techniques

Ability to read and interpret shop drawings

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Commitment to working safely and maintaining a clean work area

Strong teamwork and communication skills

Relevant trade qualifications or certifications
