Kangaroo Valley Golf & Country Retreat (KVGCR) is seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to oversee and grow a unique, multi-faceted hospitality business.
Our property offers accommodation, a championship golf course, on-site restaurant, and a newly renovated function centre. We currently employ around 18 staff, with strong plans to expand the team significantly over the next 12–18 months.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager who thrives on variety and enjoys driving change. The role requires reorganising and strengthening our current operations, while preparing the business for a much larger scale in the near future.
Key responsibilities include:
Restructuring budgets and implementing financial controls across all departments.
Developing and rolling out policies and procedures.
Leading, training, and recruiting staff across accommodation, F&B, and events.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with villa owners and club members.
Conducting regular inspections of cabins & villas
Overseeing compliance and continuous improvement across operations.
Supporting the team by jumping in where needed – from reception to bar service.
No two days will be the same. This is a role for someone who enjoys being out in the business, not behind a desk, and who can balance big-picture planning with day-to-day operational detail.
About the Property
Nestled between the Southern Highlands and the South Coast of NSW, KVGCR is just two hours from Sydney or Canberra.
The resort features:
67 self-contained cabins and villas (with DA approval for 16 more).
An 18-hole par 72 championship golf course.
Additional leisure facilities including pool, tennis, volleyball, and giant chess.
The historic Woolshed building, home to a licensed restaurant, bar, and modern conference centre.
About You
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Proven experience in hospitality or resort operations management.
Strong leadership, team development, and recruitment skills.
Attention to detail with the ability to manage both standards and service.
Sound knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
Event and function management expertise (conferences, corporate groups).
Practical skills such as stock control and rostering.
Current RSA (or willingness to obtain).
A willingness to lead by example and work collaboratively across departments.
