About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – level 2 to join us in this to join us in this exciting and dynamic new role to deliver service to all persons requiring liver and upper GI cancer services.

As the CNC you will be responsible for:

  • Expert Clinical Knowledge & Experience
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical expertise in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based care for patients with liver and upper GI cancers across the continuum (diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, follow-up, and palliative care).
  • Leadership & Consultancy Skills
  • Proven ability to provide expert clinical advice, leadership, and guidance to patients, carers, and multidisciplinary health professionals, building strong referral networks and collaborative partnerships across hospital, community, and palliative care settings.
  • Education & Supportive Care Delivery
  • Experience in delivering tailored patient and carer education, information, and psychosocial support that promotes self-management, informed decision-making, and improved health outcomes.
  • Research & Evidence-Based Practice
  • Capacity to critically appraise, integrate, and contribute to research and clinical trials, with a demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice and translation of research into improved models of care.
  • Service Planning, Management & Adaptability
  • Strong skills in planning, coordinating, and managing specialised cancer care services in line with clinical guidelines and organisational frameworks, with the ability to adapt to changing health care environments, competing priorities, and complex care needs.

About You
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Advanced clinical knowledge and leadership in cancer care, with at least 5 years fulltime equivalent post registration, with 3 years’ experience in oncology and or palliative care.
  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Ability to provide tailored education, psychological support, and clinical coordination, with clinical expertise, clinical service planning and clinical leadership in the liver and upper GI care (and/or oncology nursing).
  • Strong leadership and advocacy within clinical settings – inclusive of research and knowledge in the delivery of research and clinical trials
  • Effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Commitment to accurate data reporting aligned with McGrath Foundation standards.
