The Office of the Deputy Director-General (ODDG) Rail supports the Deputy Director-General (DDG) Rail in developing the capability of our people and leading engagement with the media, key stakeholders and our Minister. Our priorities include strategic planning, fostering division-wide collaboration, protecting our reputation, empowering our workforce to deliver a future-ready transport network.

The purpose of the Manager (ODDG Rail) is to provide strategic advice to the DDG and Rail Executive Leadership Team, regarding policies, strategic issues and organisational priorities and assist the DDG to oversee the DDG office operations, ensuring efficient flow of correspondence and stakeholder engagement across teams.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Act as a strategic advisor to the Deputy Director-General (DDG) and RELT (Rail Executive Leadership Team) on a wide range of matters including divisional priorities, strategy, risks/opportunities and policy matters whilst exercising sound judgment and discretion.
• Support the DDG to prepare timely and accurate communication andengagement materials including departmental briefing notes, submissions, and correspondence.
• Prepare strategic business concepts into actionable plans that drive change to enable divisional priorities and new ways of working.
• Build strong networks and collaborate with stakeholders, external and internal clients, other government agencies and build working relations with DDG, DDGs of other Divisions and the Minister's Offices, portfolio executive management and support staff.
• Oversee the Divisional Correspondence and Media responses to ensure consistent approaches, efficient work practices, and the achievement of performance objectives, deliverables, and deadlines.
