About the role
Take2 is seeking a Web Development Teaching Assistant at Mary Wade Correctional Centre in Lidcombe. This casual role is for 1 day per week.
You will join a distributed team of teachers across NZ and Australia.
This role leverages your ability to teach, write code, and innovate. The educator's primary responsibility is to provide an effective learning experience. You will teach a core curriculum of software development, complemented by soft skills to set students up for success.
Examples include building habits, communicating feedback, and professional accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the teacher of the Take2 classroom at Mary Wade Correctional Centre.
Ensure student progress by performance tracking, 1:1 check-ins, and assessments.
Use student insights to inform teaching approaches.
Work with the global teacher team to improve student outcomes by co-developing and iterating on the curriculum.
Ensure compliance with Corrections NSW requirements.
Liaise with centre staff to facilitate the needs of the class.
Support student recruitment (e.g., candidate interviews, info sessions).

Proficiencies as a Programmer/Developer: You may be a recent graduate from university or a bootcamp, a self-taught coder, working in the industry, or a tech teacher in a school looking for a career change. Ideally, you will have some knowledge of JavaScript/ECMAScript 6 and React.
