The Role
The Air Warfare Centre (AWC) Cyber Security Program Manager will be responsible for providing guidance on, and assuring AWC’s compliance with, legislative and policy frameworks as pertain to Cyber Security in Defence. They will be accountable for the development and management of AWC’s Cyber Security Program, inclusive of people, processes and systems, to ensure a cohesive approach to the management of Air Force Information Systems (AFIS) owned by AWC.
This approach will include continuous monitoring of AWC AFIS, including assurance of incident reporting processes, configuration management and patch management. The role requires a considerable degree of independence and ability to demonstrate subject matter expertise and sound judgement required to provide cybersecurity guidance at a senior executive level.
The Cyber Security Program Manager will lead a team and assure the outputs of associated Cyber compliance teams within subordinate work units. They will be accountable for the outcomes of their direct team and the appropriate uses of resources to produce and achieve these outcomes. As an ICT Security Specialist, the Cyber Security Program Manager is to perform and achieve very complex work in the realm of information security assurance.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:
- The qualifications, knowledge and experience to deliver effective Cyber Security Program outputs for the AWC.
- The ability to lead a multidisciplinary team focused on collaboration and uplifting Cyber Security behaviours across organisational bounds.
- Experience in risk management with an understanding of information technology legislation, policy and principles.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate risks of a very complex nature to managers and other peers.
- Demonstrated command of the written word, in support of decisional artefacts at senior-executive level.
