APS4 Grants Assessment Officers

Location: Sydney, NSW
Duration: Approx. 9 months with potential approx 12-month extension
Clearance: Baseline Security Clearance + WWVP Card (or ability to obtain)
Rate: $47 per hour + 12% superannuation
Working arrangements: In Sydney office 2-3 days per week after initial first week of training in Canberra (accomodation and travel at your expense)

We are seeking motivated and detail-focused professionals to support the delivery of vital government funding programs as APS4 Grants Assessment Officers.
These roles offer the opportunity to contribute directly to funding decisions that improve community outcomes, while developing your skills in program delivery and government processes.

What you’ll be doing

• Reviewing and assessing grant applications against clear program guidelines and criteria
• Ensuring submissions are complete, compliant, and of a high standard
• Preparing recommendations to support funding decisions
• Maintaining accurate records across grants management systems and portals
• Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent and transparent outcomes
• Supporting team-wide priorities such as reporting, compliance, and quality assurance

What we’re looking for

• Sharp attention to detail and the ability to apply structured guidelines
• Proven experience managing workloads under strict deadlines
• Strong written communication and sound judgement skills
• Previous experience in grant assessment, funding programs, or government operations (highly regarded)
• Confidence working with online portals, databases, or government systems
• A collaborative approach with the ability to work both independently and within a team
