This is a Recruitment Pool for Casual appointments into the 2026 WA Health Summer Internship Program.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments can be made from this pool until 30/12/2026.

About the Role

The Internship Program is a structured program for current university students. It runs for 15 weeks between the proposed dates of 9 February 2026 to 22 May 2026 (225 hours total at part-time) and provides an opportunity to get valuable experience within one of the largest government agencies in the state. During the program, you will be placed in a dedicated corporate team where you will be exposed to key projects, build professional networks, and undertake a tailored learning and development experience to help set you up for success.

The role is suitable to current university students from a range of academic backgrounds who are interested in the non-clinical side of the public health system. Such disciplines may include (but are not limited to) Public Health/Policy, Communications, Human Resources, Data Science, Business, and Science, but students undertaking studies in other disciplines are also encouraged to apply.

WA Health is committed to eliminating all forms of discrimination in the provision of our service. We embrace diversity and strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally diverse backgrounds and people with disabilities.

Eligibility to Apply:

  • Current enrolment in a tertiary qualification (Bachelor degree minimum). Applicants must still be currently enrolled in that course in the year that the internship program commences (i.e. still studying in 2026).
  • Achievement of at least two years of full-time university study (or credit point equivalent) by the commencement of the program.
  • Achievement of a minimum Weighted Average Mark of 65% and above for the tertiary qualification.

Ready to apply?

Apply for an intern position by clicking on the ‘Apply for Job’ button at the top/bottom of the screen.

You will be prompted to:

  • Complete an online application.
  • Attach an up-to-date copy of your academic transcript for the course you are currently enrolled in. If you have not been issued a transcript yet, an electronic statement of results will be accepted if it clearly identifies your full name, university, specific units undertaken, and scores out of 100 in those units.
  • Attach a CV, outlining your academic and work experience.
  • A statement of no more than 2 pages, addressing selection criteria 2, 3, 5 and 6 (as listed on the Job Description Form).

If you don’t provide the above required documentation with your application, you will not meet the eligibility requirements and will not proceed to the next step in the recruitment process.

Application notes

  • Please ensure you allow sufficient time to complete the online application. Including completing all questions and uploading supporting documentation.
  • You will be able to save your application online and continue to update your information by logging into the Job Board - providing the advertisement is still open.
  • Emailed applications or applications received after the closing date and time WILL NOT be accepted.
  • Referees may also be asked to comment on an applicant's integrity and past demonstration of ethical behaviour. It is preferable for your referee to be a current or former line manager or lecturer/tutor.

Other conditions

  • WA Health engages staff in positions of trust and responsibility. WA Health policies require applicants to undertake criminal records screening and integrity checking as part of the appointment process.

For further information about this position, please contact Thomas Crooks on [email protected] (not to be contacted for assistance with lodging your application).
